Story by Tri Hoang. Translations by Nam Hoang.

Audio Transcript [English]:

When I got to Lethbridge, we were maybe seventy Vietnamese people in total, of all ages. We banded together as Lethbridge’s Vietnamese Community. Our first Tet (New Year’s), we organized a celebration complete with cultural show and food. We invited all of the people supporting us: our sponsors, our bosses, and our teachers. The older Vietnamese people were cooking, and the kids were servers. The young adults and teens were in charge of performing for our guests. We invited around three hundred people. It was very emotional for everyone, our guests were very impressed and entertained by our culture. They could see clearly that our culture was strong, and that we weren't just people who would show up in their country and take advantage of their help.
